SUMMARY:Young Learners Series: Deb Haaland
DESCRIPTION:The Florence Indian Mound Museum is hosting a series of children’s programs on the Shoals’ early history using short lessons & hands-on learning. The programs explore 12 Native American figures through their biographies\, contributions\, hopes & accomplishments. Students will be given a passport with the 12 figures & a stamp for each program attended. Students who collect six\, nine or 12 stamps will receive an award. Join us 10 a.m.\, Saturday\, March 18\, for a program about Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland\, the first Native-American cabinet secretary. A member of the Pueblo of Laguna & a 35th generation New Mexican\, she is one of the first Native American women to serve in Congress\, where she focused on environmental policies\, family-friendly policies and indigenous women who are missing.
