The Florence Indian Mound Museum is hosting a series of children’s programs on the Shoals’ early history using short lessons & hands-on learning. The programs explore 12 Native American figures through their biographies, contributions, hopes & accomplishments. Students will be given a passport with the 12 figures & a stamp for each program attended. Students who collect six, nine or 12 stamps will receive an award. Join us 10 a.m., Saturday, March 18, for a program about Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland, the first Native-American cabinet secretary. A member of the Pueblo of Laguna & a 35th generation New Mexican, she is one of the first Native American women to serve in Congress, where she focused on environmental policies, family-friendly policies and indigenous women who are missing.
