The Muscle Shoals National Heritage Area’s advisory board is established in accordance with recommendations from the MSNHA Management Plan, which the National Park Service & Department of Interior approved in 2009.

The board guides & recommends policy action to the MSNHA director & staff on matters related to managing the Heritage Area, implementing the management plan and as the director deems necessary. The board also works to generate enthusiasm & support from MSNHA stakeholders.

The University of North Alabama president appoints board members based on the MSNHA director’s recommendations. Current board members review nominees before the director’s formal recommendations. Board members are appointed to three-year terms.
