An Alabama Historical Commission property, Pond Spring was the home of “Fightin’ Joe” Wheeler, former U.S. congressman and an officer in the Civil and Spanish-American wars. The 50-acre property is the site of 13 historic buildings–including an 1818 log dogtrot cabin–as well as an Indian mound & an African-American cemetery. Pond Spring is restored to the time when Annie Wheeler lived there & displayed her father’s military uniforms and swords.
