Built in 1927 as a silent-movie house, the Ritz underwent an Art Deco renovation in the early 1930s to welcome the advent of “talkies.” It’s now owned by the Tennessee Valley Art Association, which hosts plays, concerts and other performances there. Not open for tours, the Ritz nevertheless sports an impressive facade that’s a highlight of downtown Sheffield.
