Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge

The Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge located along the Tennessee River between Huntsville and Decatur provides habitat for the state’s largest concentration of wintering and migrating ducks. A favorite area for birdwatching, the refuge is also popular for wildlife observation, fishing, and hunting. Six public boat ramps and four major hiking trails bring thousands of visitors to the refuge every year to enjoy its natural beauty.
