The history of the six counties in the Muscle Shoals National Heritage Area is full of fascinating & significant stories. One of MSNHA's main objectives is to discover, preserve and share those stories. To accomplish that goal, we offer educational resources & tools that will help students learn about the culture & history of northwest Alabama. Below are links to educator packets and other publications that MSNHA staff & students from the University of North Alabama Public History Center have developed. Do you have additional lesson plans & resources highlighting history & heritage in Colbert, Franklin, Lauderdale, Lawrence, Limestone & Morgan counties you'd be willing to share with other teachers? Email msnha.una.edu.
Download this activity sheet and take it along with you as you explore the Muscle Shoals region.
Map Our History
Download the Map Our History brochure. Take this map to MSNHA’s 13 Passport® to Your National Park locations listed in this brochure. After visiting the site, ask for the Passport® to Your National Park cancellation to be stamped next to the site’s corresponding location on the map. When you’ve collected all 13, mail, bring or scan and email the map to MSNHA’s office. You’ll get your map back plus a commemorative coin to celebrate your achievement.
